The Entity is a Lie
You must keep quiet in this logic deduction horror game. The entity doesn't want you escaping, and you must decide which shades are being truthful and which are lying. But keep note, the entity wrote the text on the walls, it can't be trusted.
Please be patient with the initial level loading, it can take fairly long. It's highly recommended to download the game to avoid stuttering at the start with loading in assets. Also, please DO THE TUTORIAL - it is very needed.
There is an unlock all levels button in the settings if you can't get past any levels. In case the in-game tutorial breaks, see the text version at the bottom of this description.
Also, if there is any bugs, please let us know! We'd really appreciate it :D
Inputs:
- WASD - Move
- Mouse - Look around
- Shift - Sprint
- Ctrl - Crouch
- Space - Jump
- Left click - Toggle flashlight
- Tab - Toggle notebook
- E - Interact
- Escape or back tick (`) - Open the not pause menu
- F11 or equals (=) - Toggle fullscreen
Tutorial (prefer to use the in-game one):
- See input bindings above.
- Sprinting allows you to run faster, at the cost of stamina and sound.
- Crouching makes you less detectable at the cost of speed.
- After jumping, you will be temporarily slowed.
- The object is to figure out the passcode and insert it into the keypad at the exit gate.
- For the logic deduction, there are 2 types of clue sources:
- The text on the walls always tell lies.
- Shades are entities which you can talk to with E. A shade either completely lies or completely tells the truth.
- Logically deducing which shades lie is very important for figuring out the puzzle.
- The notebook keeps track of all the clues you've found. You can mark them as Truth or Lie for your own records. It also tells you the number of shades & wall texts there are in the level.
Tips (don't read for the full experience):
- As a general rule, don't make too much noise and don't keep line of sight.
- Everything makes sounds: From talking to shades, to entering the code.
- The entity will become attuned to your location the longer you stand still, so be careful how long you spend looking at the notebook.
- Running is much louder than walking.
- The grayness of your arm is directly correlated to your remaining stamina.
- Best way to lose the entity is by losing line of sight for long enough.
- Entity is much more aggressive with line of sight.
Post-submission bugfixes:
- Fixed keypad code always being wrong
- Stopped chase effects staying if chased into next level
- Fixed level 1 spawn point to be in entrance room
- Added continue button to get around ESC stopping game from capturing mouse on Firefox
- Removed CTRL keybind to prevent accidental close tab (CTRL + W)
- Added version number to main menu screen
- Added default fullscreen and keybind to toggle
